Flat Plan Feedback
To enable me to be able create drafts that will satisfy my target audience, I have gathered and asked for audience feedback from people who are part of my target audience. This will help to give me key points of what my audience like and enjoy in my designs and what I could change to improve my magazine.
Cover Page: I really enjoy what you have decided to call your magazine and the way you have decided to position it at the masthead of the magazine. The simplicity of the way you have decided to layout your magazine is enjoyable and allows the audiences attention to be directed to the title of your magazine and your front covers image. A simplistic layout is never underrated in my opinion and I believe that you have made a good decision with your layout as it is accessible and advertises the contents of your magazine perfectly. However, the only bit of criticism I may add is that I believe there is too much space below your title-apart from that I believe your magazine clearly shows good elements a successful magazine would have especially considering you can tell who your target audience is.
Contents Page: You can see where your influence has come from, from other magazines however this is not a negative thing as you have designed it with your own twist. Allowing all of your contents pages information to be accessible this is a great advantage that your target audience would enjoy. However, instead of using three images you could use one image along the side of your text. But I do really like the use of three images, some people may just find it distracting.
Double Page Spread: I like the way you have only used one large image on the right hand side of your page as I feel that it would illustrate nicely what your text would say. But, I would have used maybe two or more columns. Your use of the quote in comparison to the rest of your text is really lovely and eye-catching and I believe this is a good and realistic way to show your audience about your band members without sounding 'cheesy'.

From this feedback I have learnt and been reassured by my choice of name for the magazine and I happy and more confident in continuing with a simplistic design. I am also happy that my audience can see how I have been influenced by other magazines as this will hopefully appeal to them and hints at my magazine being professional. I am pleased that my target audience like my ideas for the pull quotes as this was a feature I was eager to incorporate but wanted to make sure this professional. I will definitely take this feedback on board about the space under the masthead and using two columns as these are very valid points and this will work to improving my magazine.
Front Cover:I really like the layout for this cover page as I can see that it is using conventions from other magazines which will add to the overall professional approach for the final product. The masthead title is good as I can clearly see the connection with music and I feel it will really stand out to your target audience. The layout is good and professional and I think will work together really well. You need to ensure the font and colour used for “Double ii” is bold and stands out to bring attention to the image as your magazine image isn’t filling the entire page. I feel the space in between the image and the Blare and extra information does look too big so you will need to make sure that the measurements all work together. But other than that, it looks like a really good, detailed plan and I can see your knowledge from your research and planning will make sure your final product is effective, eye catching and professional.
Contents Page:I like the layout of this flat plan especially the Contents title as it is a very different and unique so will make your magazine stand out in comparison to others. The amount of pages is appropriate for your planned price of £3.50 as it means the reader will get a fair amount for what they have paid for. You need to make sure you have a variety of artists in your featured images as well as including your front cover featured artist to show continuity. Overall it looks like a good layout that will be easy to read and will look good overall.
Double Page Spread:I think the layout for this looks really good, I think having the text on one side and the image on the other is a good and a conventional technique used a lot in magazines. I would suggest having two columns as this will make it appear there is less text and could be a good link to the artist name through having a ‘double’ column. The quotes are good and would definitely attract me as a reader and encourage me to read the article. I think this will be a really attractive and intriguing double page spread overall and I’m looking forward to seeing what the final product will be.

From this feedback I have learn't that the ideas I wanted to be effective are effective and work well with my audience such as the name of my magazine, the layout of the "Contents" heading and my general attempts at a sleek and professional design. This feedback has also been useful in telling me what I could do to improve, providing me with inspiration and ideas such as using two columns of text for my double page spread and bringing together my contents page more. This constructive criticism is particularly useful as this is from my target audience, which will help me create a magazine that is appealing to them.
